A fully circular, closed loop solution

See how we help people who care about the ocean to stop polluting it with microplastic that comes from our laundry. 🌎

PlanetCare washing machine filter is the first and only solution that stops 98% of microfibers and takes care of the whole cycle for a completely closed loop. Each filter comes with reusable cartridges that you simply replace once they're full of microfibers and send them back to us so we can properly refurbish them for future use.

#1

START FILTERING

Order your microfibre filter and install it in less than 10 minutes. You can make a one-time purchase or subscribe.

#2

REPLACE CARTRIDGES

The cartridges will fill up with microfibers from your clothes after up to 30 washes. Replacing them only takes a few minutes.

#3

RECEIVE NEW CARTRIDGES

Return the used cartridges to PlanetCare using the supplied box. If you are subscribed, new cartridges will be automatically delivered to your house.

#4

WE CLOSED THE LOOP

We refurbish the cartridges: 95% is cleaned, fitted with a new filtering medium and sent back to customers. 5% (the caught fibers) is collected for recycling.

PlanetCare users return their used cartridges in the supplied box with pre-paid postage to PlanetCare. We disassemble the cartridge and remove the filtering medium with the fibers. This is done in a controlled environment, ensuring that caught fibers do not pollute water or the environment.

Sustainability

is at the heart of everything we do and ensuring that our filters don’t become waste is paramount to us. Long story short: we run a return-and-reuse service, meaning we reuse 95% of our filters and recycle 5%.

Simply catching microfibers that shed from our clothes during laundry is not enough. To make sure they never end up in our rivers and oceans and to minimise waste generation we run a return-and-reuse scheme for our cartridges.

What do we do with the fibers?

Incineration or landfilling are not acceptable.

At the moment, we are safely storing the used filtering media with the caught microfibers. When we have sufficient quantity, they will be reused/recycled. We are continuously looking for viable and adequate solutions. These are the current pilot projects:

✅ Manufacturing of insulation material.
✅ Reinforcement of concrete weights in washing machines.
✅ Chemical recycling by breaking down the fibers into monomers.
✅ A range of furniture, made from microfibers.
