Dr. Ben Brown
Founder, Board of Advisors (Co-Chair)

In 1991, Ben Brown, as a young medical student, founded the Burmese Refugee Care Project (BRCP) (now called Planet Care). Ben returned to the border area every year during his medical school training, his residency, and he even found time to return during his employment as a full-time doctor. Currently, Dr. Brown is the medical director of a community clinic in Northern California and the proud father of his two year old daughter.

Bob Condon
Board of Advisors (Co-Chair)

Bob met Ben in 1991 and was simply inspired by his unbelievable devotion and desire to do medical relief work with what little time Ben had off as a medical student. Ben has been the inspiration for Bob to become involved in non-profit work. Working with Ben over the last decade, Bob has learned there are two "gifts" that the work of Planet Care makes possible. The first is the help Planet Care gives to the less fortunate people in the world. The second is the good feelings donors have knowing that their money and time are going to directly helping people. As the owner of a successful investment firm Bob shares his company's success by absorbing all of Planet Care's overhead costs. Bob's duties with Planet Care continue to involve fundraising and organizational coordination.

Dr. Michelle Cooper
Board of Advisors

Michelle was drawn to Planet Care through its vision of cost-effective humanitarian relief. She brought with her extensive experience in the non-profit world, having completed a successful stint as part of the development team at Rainforest Action Network, a leading environmental nonprofit organization. As a long-time friend of Bob's and a recent acquaintance of Ben's, she knew she was joining a motivated team.

Dana Harrison
Board of Advisors

Dana is a retired Schwab executive, and a long-time friend of Ben and Bob. Her interest in the plight of the Burmese refugees first developed when she encountered young freedom fighters in the jungles of northern Thailand in 1992. She spent a month working at the Mae Tao clinic in 1999 shortly after she retired, and helped Planet Care set up its 501c-3.

Courtney Rowe
Executive Director, 2005-2006
Email: courtney@planetcare.org

Courtney is delighted to have a chance to work with Planet Care before attending medical school in the fall of 2006. Though this is her first foray into the nonprofit world, her experiences so far have been inspiring. She hopes to follow in the footsteps of Dr. Ben Brown and the health workers of GHAP once she receives her medical degree.
